该车由福特公司授权美泰公司制造，最早于2000年在南海官窑生产。塑料底盘有避震，左右前侧窗敞开。2005年以前，该车仅供美国市场，或作为五件套组件之一在欧洲发行。2002年，美泰公司修改了底盘商标样式。2005年，该车开始在泰国生产，并首次进入中国市场，但此后又仅供美国地区。2006年，该车曾入选当年发行的新版超高速系列(NSF)。
